Dr. Walakira lectures at Makerere University in the School of Social Sciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Vienna in Social and Cultural Anthropology. He obtained a Masters degree in Development Studies from Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Netherlands, A post graduate Diploma in children and youth (ISS) and A Bachelors degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Makerere University. He is a researcher and consultant on issues of children and youth. He has offered advisory services to several international organisations and local NGOs in East Africa working with women, children and youth in the area of policy analysis, child protection, social protection, children and youth, education, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods and vulnerability etc.
